How to do it
5 stepsSet a Smith machine bar or another stable bar at about hip height and stand facing it.
Grip the bar with your palms facing up, hands about shoulder-width apart.
Walk your feet back until your body forms a straight line from head to heels, arms straight. This is the starting position.
Keep your elbows close to your sides and bend them to lower your chest to the bar.
Straighten your arms to push back to the starting position, keeping your hips in line with your shoulders.
The underhand grip shifts more work to the upper chest and triceps and puts more stress on the wrists. Start with a high bar.
Lower the bar to make the exercise harder; raise it to make it easier.
